Sending Files with BeamFile

• Choose files to send
• Send an e-mail message to the recipient.

That’s it!
The recipient will receive an e-mail message with a link that will allow her (and only her!) to retrieve the file.

Let’s say you want to send the BeamFile installer to your friend John Smith.

To send a file:

1. Start the ‘Send a file’ wizard by clicking the ‘Send File’ button
   Note:you could also drag and drop files onto the BeamFile window, or right click on the files in an Explorer window and choose ‘Send with BeamFile’. The ‘Send a file’ dialog will start with the files you’ve selected
   
   
   
   
2. Click the ‘Select Files…’ button to add one or more files to the message.
   Once done, click ‘Next’ to prepare a short message.
   
   Note: if you want to create your own e-mail message, or use some other means (such as an Instant Messenger) you can click the ‘Copy link to Clipboard’. A FileLink containing the details for retrieving the files will be copied to your clipboard. You can then Paste the FileLink to the message you’re preparing.
   
   
   
   
3. Fill in the details for the e-mail message you are sending:
   • Send To - whom you want to send the files to.
   • Subject - the subject for the message.
   • Message - a short message to accompany the files sent.
   Once finished, click ‘Finish’.
   
   
   
   
4. An e-mail message will be sent on your behalf, containing a FileLink that will allow the recipient of the e-mail to retrieve the files, and the file will be added to the ‘Sending’ list.
   
   
   
5. BeamFile is now waiting for John to approve the file transfer. Once approved, the file transfer will start.

Receiving Files with BeamFile

Now that we’ve sent John a file, John will receive a mail containing your message and the FileLink.

To receive the file:

1. Click on the FileLink. A web browser will open:
   
   
   
   
2. Click the ‘Get your files – Click Here’ button to approve the transfer. The first file on the list will be added to the BeamFile ‘Receiving’ list.
   Note: if John has not yet installed BeamFile, he will be taken to the BeamFile installation page first. The download will start immediately once BeamFile is installed.


3. The files will start downloading as soon as the sending BeamFile (‘uploader’) is available.


4. When the transfer is complete, the downloaded files will be available at the ‘My Received Files’ folder, found in ‘My Documents’.
